Evaluating Credits Earned at Another College or University
Official transcripts showing previous college work must be submitted directly to our Registrar’s Office at 101 Community College Way, Johnstown, PA 15904.
Credit evaluations are completed for students who have applied and have been accepted by the Penn Highlands Admissions Office. Once the evaluation is complete, notification of credit transfer will appear on your Penn Highlands transcript. Click here to learn more about the Penn Highlands transfer policy.

Penn Highlands participates in the PA Transfer and Articulation Center (PA TRAC)
PA TRAC provides a website that enables students to search for equivalent courses across all of the community colleges in Pennsylvania, all of the PA State System of Higher Education Colleges and Universities (PASSHE), and some additional institutions that have opted into this program. While this is NOT a complete list of all courses, it’s a great place to begin researching.
Credit by Examination
Penn Highlands will accept credit for Advanced Placement (AP) exams, College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, Dantes Subject Standardized Tests (DSST), and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams. Minimum test scores will apply.
Career and Technology Course and Program Transfer
For students who have completed a career and technology program, Penn Highlands will accept up to 15 credits of technical electives applied to the Entrepreneurship Associate of Applied Science program. New students should contact their Admissions Counselor to begin the evaluation and transfer process, while current students may contact the Registrar’s Office directly for guidance.

Credit for Life Experience/Prior Learning Assessment
Not all learning is done in the classroom. Did you know that you could earn college credit for work or life experience? By using College Credit Fast Track, current and prospective students will get help with earning college credit at Penn Highlands or one of Pennsylvania’s Community Colleges based on prior work or life experience. Credit can be awarded for:
- Employment
- Training programs
- Military service
- Independent study
- Community service
- Completing free online courses

Johnstown Police Regional Academy
Graduates of the Johnstown Regional Police Academy ACT 120 program are awarded 24 credits toward the Criminal Justice A.A.S. program. Students must provide their official certification of completion including final transcript. Click here to learn more about the Criminal Justice A.A.S. program.
