Make Penn Highlands Community College a part of your legacy. The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation has worked to provide expanded resources for the growth and development of the College. Your gifts, sponsorships, and more are time-honored ways to give back to the College you believe in. Here are some ways that you can donate.
Supporting Scholars Fund
Each year, Pennsylvania Highlands provides 15 deserving high school seniors from across the region with up to $3,000 per semester to attend the College. These scholarships include the Presidential, Emerging Leader, and Destination Graduation Scholarships. Donors can make a pledge to these scholarships through the Supporting Scholars Fund. Annual Giving
Our students are essential. An investment in Penn Highlands is an investment in our students and the region. Your continued support allows us to support our students and their dreams.
If you have not given yet, please do so. Your gift will provide much-needed support for areas of critical importance: students with financial needs, innovative classroom technology and building upgrades, alumni programming, and other student-focused events.
Invest in Penn Highlands Community College and you will make an investment in the community’s most precious resource: the education of our regional workforce.

Dual Enrollment Scholarship
Qualified high school students can take advantage of dual enrollment classes through our accredited Accelerated College Education (ACE) program, where students will have the opportunity to enroll in college-level courses taught by their high school or technical school teacher. These students can earn dual credits through both Penn Highlands and their high school, which can be applied towards a degree. The College Foundation is looking to help deserving students with a new Dual Enrollment Scholarship. Help us get this scholarship off the ground and be a donor.

One Book One Community
Penn Highlands Community College is proud to host the only One Book One Community program in the area. The College Foundation works with the coordinator, Dr. Barbara Zaborowski, to locate funding for this project. More than 1,200 students, teachers, and parents participate each year and learn history related to the chosen book through hands-on activities. A significant amount of the donations received are made by College employees and the College itself donates the use of its building and the volunteer time of over 40 College employees.

Did you know you could possibly double or triple your gift to Penn Highlands Community College? Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees, retirees, and/or spouses. These matching gift programs have been part of corporate giving initiatives to extend the reach of corporate giving, and to encourage employees to be actively involved in supporting their communities. Endowments
Gifts that are both general and specific (restricted) to the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation support a variety of initiatives including innovative instructional approaches and improvement of College facilities. More specifically, recent unrestricted donations supported Student Success Scholarships, the Student Emergency Fund, advanced equipment for our Medical Assisting Technology students, and the development of the Central Park Center in downtown Johnstown. These donations also allowed access to $130,000 through the U.S. Department of Education Title III grant between 2011 and 2016.

Student Emergency Fund
The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation has established a special fund called the “Student Emergency Fund”. Financial support for this fund has come from donations received via the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College employee “wear jeans to work” events, and is now an option in the Annual Giving Campaign. The Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Foundation made an initial one-time deposit to this account of $2,000. College clubs and organizations and individuals may also make directed donations to help support this fund. Funds are disbursed to students with emergencies that directly impact their ability to attend class or function as a student.

Scholarship Endowments
Each year, scholarships are awarded to deserving students who meet the guidelines of the endowed scholarships administered by the Foundation. Donors to the Foundation are free to make a pledge that adds to an already existing endowment fund or start one of their own. Pledges can be paid in quarterly or annual installments for up to five years. Endowments are a great way to provide a legacy of learning for the community or to honor a loved one. Only the interest earned from the original endowment is utilized to fund the scholarships, ensuring that your donation is a permanent gift.
