As an inaugural cadet class member of the Penn Highlands Police Academy, Thomas graduated in September 2023. He distinguished himself by being voted captain of the first cadet class by his peers, highlighting his leadership skills. After graduating, Austin joined the Conemaugh Township Police Department.

Q: What helped make your decision to choose Penn Highlands?
A: The Penn Highlands Police Academy was a part-time program in the evenings and weekends, enabling me to maintain a full-time job while advancing toward a rewarding career.
Q: What were some of the best things about attending Penn Highlands?
A:Â All the instructors were well-trained, experienced, and knowledgeable. Coupled with the program’s flexibility, these aspects were among the best features of the Police Academy.
Q: What are your plans after Penn Highlands?
A:Â The Penn Highlands Police Academy laid the foundation for my future. After graduation, I had already secured a position with the Conemaugh Township Police Department.
