Cass chose Penn Highlands Community College because it was the perfect fit for her goals. Growing up as a student at Richland High School, she saw Penn Highlands as the best option. The convenience of being close to home, flexible class schedules, and intimate class sizes made it a no-brainer.
“Hi! My name is Cass, and I’m from Johnstown, PA. I grew up with my two siblings, loving parents, and a household full of dogs and cats. I’m currently studying Marketing Management, and I plan to get my real estate license soon. When I’m not studying or working, I love spending time with friends, listening to music, and trying new things.”
The professors here are truly there for YOU. It’s such a great way to earn a two-year degree and prepare for the next step in your life.”
But what stands out most in Cass’s story is her experience with the Disney College Program. Penn Highlands’ flexibility allowed her to chase her dreams in Florida while continuing her coursework online.
“With the help and support of my professors and peers, I successfully completed a full-time semester online while living in Florida and experiencing one of my biggest dreams.”
Cass also found inspiration and encouragement through her professors, particularly Sandy Schrum.
“Sandy Schrum wasn’t just a professor; she was a mentor who encouraged me to dare to dream. She taught me to be a person first and gave incredible advice that shaped my experience at Penn Highlands. Her commitment to her students’ success is unparalleled.”
The close-knit community at Penn Highlands also left a lasting impression on Cass.
“Student interaction made it such a welcoming environment. Anytime I attended in-person classes, there was always something happening, whether it was a club event or an informative student gathering. I even had the chance to explore future opportunities through job and college fairs.”
After graduating, Cass plans to move to Orlando, Florida, and continue her career with The Walt Disney Company while earning her real estate license.
“Without Penn Highlands’ flexibility and support, I would’ve never been able to participate in the Disney College Program or discover where I truly belong. I’m forever grateful to people like my advisor, Joe Slifko, and Professor Sandy Schrum, who pushed me to chase my dreams every step of the way.”
